Despite the close ties with Melvor Idle and RuneScape from haoxiuyun's blog

Making the jump from a hobby into OSRS gold a fan-based project was definitely scary But looking at the direction I've taken, and the assistance I've received from the beginning of Games by Malcs as an up-and-coming studio, it has definitely been the most successful."

Despite the close ties with Melvor Idle and RuneScape, and the involvement direct of Jagex, the publisher opted to keep the game as an original IP rather than to make it an officially-licensed RuneScape spin-off. It was a acknowledgment of the fact that Malcolm had achieved in the place Jagex did not.

"We were actually looking at making an inactive RuneScape game several years ago, with RuneScape: Idle Adventures," Pfeiffer says. "In Alpha, we stopped development to concentrate all our energy on main RuneScape games.

We've always believed in that RuneScape's possibilities are vast in the idle game, and Melvor Idle proves that RuneScape can inspire a brilliant idle game. However, Melvor Idle stands up on its own merits too, and we wanted to stay true to the vision for Melvor Idle that Brendan was able to envision when he began creating the game."

Pfeiffer also cites the success of Melvor Idle as proof that potential talent can emerge from the community of any game that Jagex is already recognizing. "We've always noticed that to be able to count on the RuneScape communities to be an excellent resource of potential talent to Jagex, not just as game designers but all of the positions within a studio for games," he says. "RuneScape has seen more than 300 million accounts created over the course of more than 20 years, and the amount of talented people who have played the game is enormous."

After the successful collaboration in the past with Games By Malcs, Pfeiffer says he's keen to do more with independent developers across the globe if they're developing projects that "align with RuneScape's design philosophy and Jagex's core values" and is hoping Melvor Idle's success will encourage more indies to reach out to the studio.

With the version 1.0 of Melvor Idle now available, Games By Malcs and Jagex have been working on future features, as well as additional titles to be set within Melvor. Melvor universe. Malcolm continues to be grateful to Jagex for its ongoing assistance, particularly when it is about bringing new players to buy OSRS GP the game.
