NBA 2K23 still lands as an outstanding from Marie's blog

The one drawback is the enormous size of MT 2K23 the two hubs. They both The City on the current-gen and The Neighborhood (a huge cruise ship) on previous-gen are filled with events. Yet, the activities can be spread over an unneededly vast area.

Although you can use skateboards and bikes, players will spend almost the same amount of time in The City as they do playing basketball. Even though both hubs feature attractive art styles and are aesthetically pleasing, they still feel like some kind of waste of time.

The fun in NBA 2K23 doesn't stop with MyCareer. There are new improvements to MyTeam and an badge system that can be used on cards that are similar to the badges within the other modes of 2K to create a wider variety of lineups and play styles. The changes also apply to Unlimited or Limited games.

A new Draft mode, as well as the revamped mode The 100. Sadly, these modes all look stale and don't offer any new entertainment to the table. It's also mostly in these models that the microtransactions that are included in NBA 2K23 really show.

Although jumping into pickup games in MyCareer without spending money may be intimidating, NBA games and games can give at a minimum an instant boost to this effort if you do it correctly. In MyTeam it is apparent that the lack of depth in the competitive mode means competing with other players who have invested money in packs that much more difficult, and it makes the single-player modes far more appealing.

It's virtually impossible to play in any mode in an upcoming NBA 2K game without running into microtransactions. 2K23 is no exception. The franchise has done it so much now that it's now almost an unavoidable background noise for regular players as evidence that 2K has just trained people to expect their players to expect them.

With the exception of the poor microtransactions and bloated hubs, the only fundamental low points are lackluster developments for MyLeague, MyGM, and The W. Each game is still playing well, but that they're not an area of goal. 2K23 offers nothing new over the game of last year for players who appreciate these games, apart from improved gameplay should they play.

However, even with its flaws NBA 2K23 still lands as an outstanding game due to its on-court presentation, if for nothing else. The game feels more fluid, more intuitive, and excels due to the haptic feedback on PS5 which makes every move feel enthralling. There are still a few kinks to resolve, but you can be sure that the NBA 2K ship is heading full-steam forward in the right direction , with the launch of NBA 2K23.
