Eprasure DSR is a prescription proton pump inhibitor used for treating frequent heartburn caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The DSR in the name stands for "Dual Delayed Release", referring to its unique dual layered capsule.
The outer layer of the capsule quickly dissolves to provide an initial dose of the active ingredient omeprazole. This starts working right away to reduce stomach acid. The inner layer dissolves later to provide a second dose for continued acid control. Taken before eating in the morning, one Eprasure DSR capsule provides 24-hour heartburn relief.
Eprasure DSR pills not only relieves painful burning sensations in the chest and throat, but also allows damaged esophageal tissue to heal. By decreasing the frequency and severity of acid reflux episodes, it helps prevent further injury. Side effects may include headache, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. More serious side effects are unlikely but possible. Eprasure DSR requires a prescription and is not meant for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.
